65th Pakistan Flower Show 2016 opened on Thursday evening at DHA Seaview Public Park. A colourful ceremony was held on the occasion in which winner organizations, groups and individuals were awarded trophies and prizes. Commander 5 Corps and President Executive Board DHA, Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar was the chief guest of the function.
The Annual Flower Show this year was dedicated to ‘Baba-e-Baghbani’ and founder of Horticultural society of Pakistan (HSP) late Mr AK Khan and was arranged by HSP in collaboration with DHA/CBC.
The Corps Commander lauded the efforts of HSP for organizing a splendid floral show. He emphasized the need for organizing lively and creative activities like flower shows in the metropolis for promoting positive and health trends in society. He said that horticulture and gardening promotes the culture of tolerance, empathy and harmony and urged the citizens to change Karachi into a city of aroma, colours and flowers.
President HSP Mr Fahim Siddiqui in his address outlined the activities of his organization and said that HSP was passionately engaged in giving greener and beautiful environment to Karachi.
DHA clinched over all first position in the Flower Show by a huge margin and was awarded the coveted Abdul Sattar Pirzada Trophy. DHA Nursery Ph-VII got first position in category of Nurseries and DHA Gizri Hill got first position in beautification of Roundabouts. DHA Tooba Masjid got first position in Masjid Gardens, Flag Staff House and Administrator DHA House got first position in Gardens of Official Bungalows large and small respectively. DHA Zamzama Park was declared the best park in the category of large parks.
Administrator DHA Brig Zubair Ahmed was also present on the occasion. The Floral Show will remain open for the general public till 28th Feb 2016 (Sunday).
