Administrator DHA Visits Wind Mill Farm at Gharo

Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali visited a functional 25 Mega Watt Wind Mill Farm established by Orient Energy Company in the general area Gharo. CEO Orient Energy briefed the Administrator on ground about the technical features, operational efficiency and efficacy of the wind energy project. Administrator appreciated the technological initiative taken by the company which augurs a bright future for development of renewable wind energy generation in Pakistan.

It is one of the pioneering windmill energy project of the country that harness abundance of blowing wind in the area and convert kinetic wind energy into electricity. Administrator stressed the need for developing cost effective technology in the country to produce safe renewable wind energy at a large scale.

Administrator said that DHA City Karachi (DCK) on Super Highway is located in wind corridor and has tremendous potential for generation of renewable wind energy power. He added that DCK is accordingly establishing a dedicated Wind Energy Park initially with a capacity of 50 M Watts that will be extended to 100 M Watts to enhance its capacity. The primary work including measuring the level of wind available in the area has all been successfully completed.

It was a daylong informative visit. PD and Director DCK also accompanied the Administrator during the visit.
