All Karachi Inter Schools/Colleges Quiz Competition 2012

All Karachi Inter Schools/Colleges Quiz Competition 2012 was held at Defence Authority Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed (SKBZ) College , Phase-VI. Prof Dr. Farkhanda Burke, Chairperson, Dept of Geography, University of Karachi was the chief guest of the function.

Prof Burke emphasized the significance of the power of knowledge and termed the quiz competitions as the hallmark of a sound education system. She said that the world was moving from industrial economy to knowledge based economy as such knowledge and information played a pivotal role in success of any venture.

The chief guest reiterated that the quiz competitions provided an excellent opportunity to enhance the mental skills of students and played a pivotal role in development of their all round personality. She desired that since the event was held on International Day of Tourism more questions on tourism and geography should have been included in the competition.

Earlier the Principal of the College, Brig. (R) Shahid Saleem, in his welcome address highlighted the achievements of the college students in various academic and co-curricular activities. He stressed the need for constant update of knowledge for a successful career in this technological and information age.

All Karachi Inter Schools/Colleges Quiz Competition 2012

Students of leading colleges/schools of the metropolis participated in the event. The students answered different interesting and intellectually vibrant questions. The questions asked covered a vast panorama of subjects including education, science, Islamic studies, history, sports and current affairs etc. Mr. Shahid Ali Khan, Mr. Yousuf Rehimi, Ms Nuzhat Javeed and Dr Shaheen were the judges of the event.

According to the results, the quiz competition at college level was won by Bahria College NORE-I while Defence Authority Degree College For Women got the second position. At school level, BVS High School clinched the coveted first position while Defence Authority Dhukhtran-e-Awam School got the second position.

At the end, the chief guest gave away the trophies to the winning teams and distributed certificates among the organizers of the programme.
