All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest 2018 held at Defence Authority Degree College for Women


All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest 2018 was held at Defence Authority Degree College for Women in which 24 teams from reputed colleges/universities from across the country participated. Mr Javed Jabbar, an eminent intellectual, scholar and writer was the chief guest of the event.

The young speakers eloquently spoke on various serious and humorous topics displaying their brilliance, oratory skills and sense of humour. They delivered speeches in English and Urdu in an imaginative and convincing manner.

Mr Javed Jabbar appreciated the zeal, enthusiasm and spirited approach of the speakers and stressed the need for research work, knowledge and innovative approach as a pre-requisite to excel in the art of declamation. He said that speaking basically comprises of four aspects i.e. listening, reading, thinking and writing. He also advised the speakers to remain firm, confident and eloquent with a touch of politeness, humour and originality in their discourse.

Dr Farhat Agha, the Principal highlighted the achievements of the College in academics and co-curricular activities. She said that the college provided educationally stimulating and dynamic learning environment that prepared the students to become confident, self assuring and forward looking individuals of society.

In English Declamation, student of Karachi University bagged 1st position while students of Agha Khan School secured second and third positions consecutively.

In Urdu Declamation, student of NED University of Engineering secured 1st position while students of Karachi University got 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The coveted trophy of the declamation was won by Karachi University team.

In the end the chief guest distributed certificates and shields among the participants of the declamation contest. Acting Director Education DHA Col Zahid Hussain (Retd) presented a memorable shield to the chief guest.
