An Evening of Performance Poetry and Conversation featuring Lemn Sissay

Join The Second Floor (T2F) for an evening of performance poetry and conversation with UK-based writer, poet, and performer, Lemn Sissay. The conversation will be moderated by author, Bina Shah.

Lemn Sissay is a poet and playwright. He is an associate artist at Southbank Centre, Europe’s largest centre for the arts. He was the first poet commissioned to write for the 2012 Olympics and his poem ‘Spark Catchers’ is etched onto a transformer at the Olympic site.

Lemn is an honorary Doctor of Letters and curated the world’s first Literature Festival of the Sea. His ‘Landmark Poems’ can be spotted throughout Manchester and London, including at the Royal Festival Hall. ‘Gilt of Cain’, a Landmark Poem commissioned by the City of London is located near Fenchurch Street Station and was unveiled by Bishop Desmond Tutu in 2006. In 2010, Lemn travelled to the Arctic with Jarvis Cocker, Laurie Anderson, Martha Wainwright, KT Tunstall and Lesley Feist, and is featured in Burning Ice, a film of the voyage.
