Omar Shaukat - Anarchism, Religion, and ResistanceJoin The Second Floor (T2F) for a talk by Omar Shaukat as he debunks common myths about anarchism, ponders about the uses of religious and political philosophy as a mode of intellectual resistance, and contemplates alliances between anarchism and Islamic theology.

Omar Shaukat is a PhD Candidate at the University of Virginia in the Department of Religious Studies, and is writing his dissertation on Kant’s conception of self-consciousness. He has also been a visiting faculty member at various universities teaching courses on Islam, Philosophical Ethics and Liberation Theology. Born and raised in the chaos of Karachi, he has finally come to embrace Anarchism as the only coherent political position.
