Animated Cinema Festival by AFK

Join Alliance Francaise Karachi online from 14-31 October 2020 to enjoy free screenings of French and African animated films!

The annual Fête du cinéma d’animation or Animated Cinema Festival raises awareness among the public and the media about “frame by frame” cinema, promoting animated films and their makers. Its genesis and its implementation are articulated with the World Day of Animated Cinema, celebrated on October 28 in homage to Émile Reynaud, pioneer of the film frame by frame and in commemoration of his first public screening of animated tapes, at Paris, at the Musée Grévin, precisely on October 28, 1892.

The event takes place each year simultaneously in hundreds of cities in France, and in the cultural network abroad. Thanks to the Institut français, all continents participate in the Festival through screenings, meetings and workshops. For nearly 20 years, the Animation Film Festival has been developing and making October the month for animation cinema throughout France and around the world. It mobilizes more than 250 cultural (cinemas, media libraries, museums, cultural institutes, etc.) and educational venues (schools, leisure centers, etc.) which organize hundreds of events.
