Be Blessed This EID ul Azha 2018 – How to Spend this Day!

Eid-ul-Azha, The Greater Eid or The Festival of Sacrifice is very significant in the Muslim history as it is a depiction of sacrificing something very important and dear to one’s heart. All Muslims observe this religious ritual strictly around the globe and spend money to give Allah the best sacrifice they can. However, every event has a protocol and so has Eid-ul-Azha. There are some rules to it that our Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) used to follow and they have now become Sunnah. We should spend this day according to them and be rewarded.

  1. Anyone who has resolved to observe sacrifice must not cut hair or nails or, in case of men, trim their beard from 1st Zilhijj to the time he makes the sacrifice.
  2. Observe a two-day fast of either 9th and 10th – or 10th and 11th of Zilhijj although it is optional.
  3. Get up early on Eid day
  4. Take a bath and get dressed in clean clothes. Do not eat anything before qurbani.
  5. Set out early and walk to your nearest Jama Masjid for Eid prayers.
  6. Reach the venue by one route and walk back from another.
  7. Make necessary duas and sacrifice your animal.
  8. Distribute meat among the poor, your relatives and friends and keep some for yourself.
  9. Have breakfast with the meat of the sacrificed animal.
  10. Seek acceptance and deliverance from Allah.
  11. Meet and greet with friends and family and be generous.

One should follow this protocol to spend a harmonic and blessed Eid-ul-Azha. May Allah grant our sacrifices. Eid Mubarak to you all!
