Bonsai Exhibition 2015 organized by Pakistan Bonsai Society in collaboration with Defence Housing Authority opened at DHA Zamzama Park. Consul General of Japan His Excellency Mr Akira Ouchi was the guest of honour while Acting Secretary DHA Brig (R) Naeem Azhar Lone was the distinguished guest of the function.
The Consul General of Japan commended the efforts of Pakistan Bonsai Society for promoting the fantastic Japanese art in Pakistan. He described Bonsai as a traditional Japanese art of growing artistically shaped miniature trees in the containers with a long history of 800 years. He said that Bonsai is a fascinating art practiced by people world over of growing miniature trees through unique techniques involving profound observation and insight for the nature. He hoped that Bonsai Exhibition will contribute to deepening of understanding about Japan in Pakistan and promotion of friendship between the two countries.
Mr Mazhar Khawja, President Pakistan Bonsai Society (PBS) said that Bonsai art is a creative and aesthetically vibrant passion that had a soothing and positive effect on human senses and helped in developing a harmonious and enlightened society. He said that PBS over the years has emerged as a nucleus for disseminating the knowledge and information on the intricate art and science of Bonsai in the country. He thanked DHA for providing a beautiful place in Zamzama Park to Pakistan Bonsai Society for organizing its activities.
Acting Secretary DHA Brig (R) Azhar Lone said that DHA would support any efforts of society for promotion of intellectually creative pursuit. The event exhibited collection of 120 miniature Bonsai plants of age ranging from 5 to 7 years which have been elegantly preserved in pots. The Exhibition will remain open for general public till Saturday from 4 PM to 9 PM daily.
