Book Recital: Uljhey Suljhey Anwar by Imrana Maqsood by T2F

Join The Second Floor as they explore the mysterious personality of Anwar Maqsood with the help of his biography penned by his wife Imrana Maqsood. Here is to hosting a delightful conversation with Imrana, accompanied by recitals narrated by Fawad Khan, and a few comments by Khursheed Hyder. The session will be moderated by Sabuha Khan

About the Author:

Imrana Maqsood is a novelist and playwright. Along with being the wife of the celebrated entertainment personality, Anwar Maqsood, she has her own claims to fame. She has also written cookbooks and is a three-time winner of the President’s Award, National Book Foundation for Children’s Supplementary Readers. Following her biography of her husband, Uljhey Suljhey Anwar, her most recent work is Subah ka Nashta Shaam ki Chai: Imrana Maqsood kay Sath, which launched at KLF 2019.

About the Participants:

Khursheed Hyder
Having a long journalistic background from feature writer at Dawn Group of Newspapers to Hum TV, Khursheed is a master of English literature. Socially famous, Khursheed has been participating in the Karachi Literature Festival as Storyteller. Her Features on celebrities of art, culture, food, and literature created a large fan club of her. She has written articles on various individuals namely Fatima Suriyya Bajiya and Zubeda Tariq in Dawn.

Fawad Khan
Carrying an extreme passion for theatre, Fawad graduated from the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), majoring in direction for stage, in the year 2008. Since then he has been consistently doing theatre, he has not only been directing but acting and writing as well. Some of the major productions he has been part of include WAITING FOR GODOT, directed by Zia Mohyeddin; KING LEAR, directed by Zia Mohyeddin; SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF AN AUTHOR, a production that was very special because Fawad got to direct one of his most beloved teachers, Mr. Rahat Kazmi; KHEL EK RAAT KA, a play that was done in a very intimate setting and it received a lot of appreciation from everyone; BABA JALINOOS, an adaptation of Moiere’s Tartuffe; KHOYA HUA AADMI by Kamal Ahmed Rizvi; and QUSOORWAR, an adaptation of ’12 Angry Men’ by Reginald Rose and CHUP a play that he wrote himself.

Sabuha Khan
Sabuha Khan is a known figure in social and literary circles of Karachi. Mrs. Khan has authored six books. She is known to share a keen interest in music, reading, and writing. Mrs. Khan currently heads a Readers’ Club and a musical group titled “Mouseeqar”. She was twice president of an international NGO “Soroptimist International, Karachi”. Sabuha remained associated with the teaching profession for more than a decade and has also worked with PTV as a newsreader for 12 years.
