D’alma – Where Food Come to Life

Posh-looking entrance; mysterious, half-lit, rough type interior décor (basically old Portuguese style) blended with present day wall art; soft white contrasting furniture and candles all giving an old world impression with attempts on modernisms — that is D’alma for you. Meaning ‘the soul’, D’alma claims that each and every plate it produces has a soul.

Everyone was awed and bedazzled when it came to life this year at Nishat commercial area, phase 6. It is basically a multi cuisine restaurant serving Portuguese, Mediterranean, , Spanish and Latin American dishes. The food is excellently presented by the polite and co-operative staff on cave man-style wooden platters and the patterned crockery along with all the surroundings makes you feel like an ancient person yourself.

The speciality of D’alma is Seafood. Want something basic? Try their Special Smoked Jumbo Prawn – and jumbo literally means JUMBO. Looking out to test your limits? Dig in to Setubal’s Special Fresh Squid. Or you can have Evan’s Crab-Au-Citron if you are REALLY into seafood. Or you can always order shrimps. Anything you want.

The food is served in three types of plate sizes: Tapa (portion), Standard plate (for 2 people) and Platter (for 3 – 4 people) and all worth every penny I must say.

Other notable options in the menu are Lamb and Mutton Platter sampling shanks to devour; Taco Platter (Mutton and Chicken tacos with rich guava sauce – have you ever tried guava sauce? You can try now if never); The Mediterranean Meat Platter revealing Hunter’s Beef, Lamb Chops, Steaks all cut in signature rough chunks and served with whole veggies on a plain wooden slab – again, bringing you the delicacy of a rough life; then there is Ceviche straight across Portugal served with its original citrus flavour. Smack your lips all you want.

The restaurant opens twice: in the afternoon for lunch and in the evening for dinner and serve till late in the night. They also organize music nights every week which will add much to your collection of good memories.

Bon appetite to all of you raring to embark on this tasty journey out there!
