DAP presents Chalta Phirta Documentary Festival at T2F

Chalta Phirta Documentary Festival is the latest initiative of Documentary Association of Pakistan (DAP). It is a travelling documentary film festival that is going to 11 Pakistani cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar, and Gilgit. Through this festival DAP’s aim is to broaden its audience and outreach to cities that are frequently ignored when it comes to the provision of thriving cultural and social events, and to bring home films that gain much critical acclaim internationally, but are not screened locally. The festival is showcasing a new set of documentary films in each of these cities on a bi-annual basis and aims to spark important conversations through them on a national level.

Film screenings will be followed by discussions

About DAP:
Documentary Association of Pakistan (DAP) is an initiative to promote the art of documentary films in Pakistan, to strengthen the community of doc filmmakers in the country, and to provide mentorship and training to them locally.

DAP is working to popularize the culture of documentary watching in Pakistan by organising film screenings in public spaces across Pakistan. They form collaborations with like-minded partner venues and screen documentary films that are followed by powerful discussions between the filmmaker and our audiences.

DAP also works closely with documentary filmmakers to provide them with networking and training opportunities by organising filmmaker meetups and training workshops. Most documentary filmmakers in Pakistan work independently, and for them to have access to a platform like DAP that aims to bring documentary filmmakers together is very crucial.

DAP’s team includes critically acclaimed and award-winning filmmakers including Haya Fatima Iqbal, Anam Abbas, Tazeen Bari, Risham Waseem and Fahad Naveed.

At The Second Floor programme they are excited to bring you some award-winning documentary films that have never been screened publicly in Karachi before. Their line-up includes the Emmy award winning Armed with Faith.
