Defence Authority Public School (O&A Levels) Phase-VIII held a Comprehensive Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign

Defence Housing Authority has initiated a comprehensive Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign in DHA in which tree saplings are being planted at different places including parks, clubs, educational institutions, mosques and road sides at a massive scale. The cornerstone of the campaign is to plant native tree species in a large number at public places to add to the greenery of DHA and the metropolis at large with the campaign logo ‘Greening Karachi’.

A tree plantation activity was held at Defence Authority Public School (O&A Levels) Phase-VIII with great fanfare. The staff and students of the school enthusiastically participated in the campaign and planted a number of tree saplings in the school garden. It was a lively, vibrant and colourful activity. The overall aim of campaign is to plant number of trees that will help to fight the emerging challenges of climate change in the city. Trees make earth cooler both for people and planet by absorbing carbon dioxide from atmosphere that help produce clouds which are very much needed in Karachi’s growing hot environment.

Principal DAPS Phase-VIII Mr Junaid Furrukh said that the purported aim of conducting the campaign was to bring an awareness in students of the need for preservation of natural environment and plantation of trees in a large number. He said that promotion of greenery in the area would ensure greener, cleaner and vibrant environment for a lively and healthy living.
