A group of Officers recently visited the site of DHA’s upcoming residential cum commercial project ‘DHA City Karachi’ (DCK) on Super Highway. DCK area is abuzz with intensive development activities as one can see excavators, graders, bulldozers and tractors working all around. A large number of contractors including FWO and NLC have already mobilized in the area and more than 3000 committed work force is engaged in the ongoing development activities.
Project Director DCK, Brig Muhammad Rafique said that DCK is being developed in accordance with a versatile development strategy. He added that projects of Immediate Action Plan including DCK Boundary Wall, Watch Towers, Central Entrance Gate, DCK Directorate, Visitors’ Centre, DCK Central Facility Building and Staff Accommodation are near completion while the sector development works under the Short Term Development Plan have already been initiated to make DCK a livable entity by 2015-16. The work on the construction of road network in the area is being undertaken on priority.
Two wind masts have also been installed at DCK for recording the wind data to be utilized for generation of renewable wind energy. Planning for development of solar energy and independent power generation is also afoot which would make DCK self sufficient in energy requirement. There is abundance of underground water of high quality to meet the DCK’s water requirements.
The local community is also enthralled by the mega project as a number of social sector uplift projects have also been undertaken concurrently. In Kot Allahdad a dispensary, a school, a mosque and a community centre have been uplifted and refurbished by the DCK Team. DHA doctors provide free medical facilities alongwith medicines thrice a week to the area residents. Many locals have been given employment in DCK project.
The Project Director, Brig Rafique, revealed that DCK project is being evaluated at Harvard University USA for inclusion in international rating calendar which would lure in international investors and organizations and give a tremendous boost to the speedy development of the project. The enthusiasm and professional dedication with which the development work in the area is in progress suggests that DCK would soon emerge as the best and the biggest residential area of the region.
