Join The Second Floor for the Book Launch of Dil Reza Reza on the 10th of December 2020, as they dive into the works of Dr. Shershah Syed ; with panelists, Raza Ali Abidi (UK), Ishrat Afreen (US), and moderator: Shakil Jafri.

About the Participants:
Raza Ali Abidi
Raza Ali Abidi, A famous Pakistani Journalist and author, born on 30th December 1935 at Rourkee, India. Moved to Karachi with his family in 1950, and then migrated to London and worked for the BBC (Urdu) from 1972 till 2008. He is best known for his radio documentaries. One of them is about the Grant trunk Road, titled “jurnaili Sadak” and the other , his travelogue along the banks of the Indus river . They are available in the book form too. He has several other books to his credit. He has also written and compiled many interesting books for children.

Ishrat Afreen
Ishrat Afreen ranks among the most renowned poets of Pakistan. Known for her feminist poetry, she has fought hard to secure the rights of women. She was born in a well-educated family in Karachi on December 25, 1956.
Ishrat completed her M.A. in Urdu from Karachi University, though she started writing poetry at a much younger age. She became a published poet when she was merely 14. After that, she never looked back. Until now two of her collections, “Kunj Peele Phuloon Ka” and “Dhoop Apne Hisse Ki”, have been published. Besides this, various magazines of India and Pakistan publish her work every now and then.
Nowadays, Ishrat resides in America with her family and is associated with the Urdu department of the University of Texas. She has been honoured with several important awards for her services to literature.

Dr. Shershah Syed
Dr. Shershah Syed is an obstetrician and gynecologist by profession and also writes short stories. This is his tenth collection of stories published last week in Karachi.He was the president of the Society of Obstetricians & Gynecologists of Pakistan from 2007–2010, and is the current president of the Pakistan National Forum on Women’s Health (PNFWH).
About the Moderator:Shakil Jafri is a writer, poet, producer, presenter, operations manager and social activist. He has started several cultural and literary organizations. He has delivered lectures and presentations on renowned writers, poets and artists at different seminars, literary circles and festivals in the country. Carrying over 30 years of experience in cultural, art, literature, social event management, he has also co-produced documentary films on social and urban issues.
