Flute Classes with Rahat Inayat Ali at T2F

Come and learn the South Asian flute, Bansuri, with master musician, Rahat Inayat Ali. In these workshops you will first learn about the instrument, its correct positioning and blowing techniques, and how to build stamina and sustain notes. In successive weeks you will learn to identify notes and move across scales using ancient finger movement techniques to help you not only learn to play the instrument but will also help you to learn about the musical system of South Asia.

Flutes will be available for purchase from T2F and, as you will progress, further guidance will be provided by your instructor as to what other kinds of flutes you can buy.

About the Instructor:
Rahat Inayat Ali
is the son of the legendary flute player of Pakistan, Ustad Inayat Ali Khan. Having trained primarily from his father, Rahat started to secure prestigious awards in music at a very early age. He received the Mizari Meddle from APMC Lahore at Alhamra Arts Council and in 1992 he received the Best Performance award from the Punjab Arts Council. He received the PTV award in 2006 and also has many compositions to his name. He was involved in the composition for the title track for the Indian movie Rakht and has also played pieces for the song Jiya Dharak Dharak from the film, Kalyug. Rahat has travelled to East Africa, Australia, USA and UAE for workshops on music and for performances and he has performed with renowned Pakistani artists such as Mehdi Hasan, Farid Khanum, Mehnaz Begum, Abida Parveen, Ghulam Ali, Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, Sajjad Ali, and Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan.

Days: Every Tuesday and Thursday
Date: Starting from Tuesday, 15th October 2019 till Thursday, 16th January 2020

Registration Fee:
Rs. 24,000/- (for three months)
Rs. 8,000/- (monthly)
