An Inter-Collegiate Bilingual declamation contest was held at Defence Authority Degree College, Karachi. A large number of reputed educational institutions of the city took part in the contest, which is an annual feature of the College’s co-curricular activities. Prof Sehar Ansari, renowned poet and Chairman Literary Society, Arts Council of Pakistan was the chief guest.
The chief guest addressed the youth and said youth comprised the major portion of the demography in Pakistan. We shall educate the youth’s role towards a peaceful and tolerant society in an elaborate manner. It is very important to equip them with all necessary tools and public speaking is one of them specially in an environment which is becoming more and more competitive and challenging. In the end he appreciated all the teachers and students who made this event successful.
In his welcome address, the Principal of the College, Prof Syed Siraj Munir, introduced the chief guest and the judges of the Declamation Contest. He said that declamations, debates and discussions provided the students an effective forum for enlightenment of mind and grooming of leadership qualities in them. As co-curricular activities, they infused in them the spirit of acceptance and tolerance, and developed a realistic approach in the minds.
In English Declamation University of Karachi secured 1st position Pakistan Marine Academy came second and PNEC NUST stood 3rd position.
In Urdu Declamation NED University secured 1st position DA College for Women Ph-VIII came 2nd and PNS Jauhar stood 3rd position. The coveted trophy was won by DA College For Women Ph-VIII.
In the end the chief guest distributed certificates and shields among the participants of the declamation contest. The Principal of the College presented an honorary shield to the chief guest.
