Introduction to Feminism: What is it and Why Does Pakistan Need it? at T2F

“Overrated”. “Misunderstood”. “Complicated”. “Man-hating”. These are just some of the descriptions that many come up with when asked to describe feminism in Pakistan. Many feminists even choose to disassociate themselves from the “F” word.

Why does this confusion exist? One guess is that there is a lack of awareness about the movement and where it originated. Another guess is that we are unsure of how feminism applies to us in our surroundings.

Join them at The Second Floor for a panel discussion with esteemed experts Areesha Banglani, Shandana Minhas, Adnan Sarwar and Sohai Ali Abro, who debunk the controversy around the word ‘feminism’ and try to explain why a country like Pakistan is in dire need of understanding its responsibility towards women.

About the Project:
Laraka Larki is a feminist public advocacy initiative that aims to empower women and other marginalized groups in Pakistan by helping them discover their rights as citizens, and by teaching them to fight back.
