Kaho, Sunno – A Weekend of Spoken Word and Music


Join The Second Floor (T2F) for two days of spoken word performances, dramatic readings, a never-seen-before film by Usman Riaz and a traditional qavvaali featuring the Saami Brothers.

Kaho, Sunno - A Weekend of Spoken Word and MusicT2F is excited to present this showcase in collaboration with Spoken Stage, an organization encouraging freedom of expression by experimenting with the tradition of oral poetry and the spoken word.

6:50 pm: Spoken Word via Skype
Skype-based spoken word performance by Hind Shoufani, acclaimed Lebanese poet, filmmaker and activist

7:15 pm – 7:45 pm: Break

8:00 pm: The Waves
Premiere release of Usman Riaz’s new film

8:30 pm: Dozakh
Zambeel Dramatic Readings performs a play by Ismat Chughtai

Skype-based performance by Sheniz Janmohammad, Canadian spoken word artist, poet, author and founder of Ignite Poets

8:30 pm: Rivayti Qavvaali
Traditional, devotional music featuring the Saami Brothers, sons of Ustaad Naseeruddin Saami

This showcase is supported by novelist and short story writer, Maniza Naqvi who strongly believes in talent incubation and small acts of creative resistance. We hope more people like her will step up to support and validate Pakistan’s emerging creative community, not just with words of encouragement but with their wallets.
