About the Panelists:

Ameena Saiyid:
Ameena Saiyid. OBE, S.I. Knight of Arts and Letters (France)
Founder and Director, Adab Festival and Founder and MD, Lightstone Publishers; Ameena Saiyid was MD of Oxford University Press for 30 years. She is the first woman in Pakistan to become the head of a multinational company and President of the Overseas Investors’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
She began the movement of literature festivals in Pakistan. She is Secretary General of the Jinnah Society and is on the Board of Habib University Foundation, Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Institute of Art and Culture, Lahore, and Sindh Madrassatul Islam University.
She is a member of the federal education minister’s Search Committee for the selection of scholars on Pakistan Chairs abroad and a member of the foreign ministry’s committee of Arts and Culture.
Ameena is a Trustee of the Vicky Noon Education Foundation, UK, which gives scholarships to Pakistani students to study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities and a board member of Kashf Foundation.

Hoori Noorani:
Hoori Noorani runs the Karachi-based publishing house Maktaba-e-Danyal, which she inherited from her late father Malik Noorani. Her love for literature and linguistics led her towards a Master’s degree in Philology with a major in Russian and World literature from the People’s Friendship University in Moscow. Maktaba-e-Danyal has published works of renowned authors that include Mushtaq Ahmed Yousufi, Syed Sibte Hassan, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Iftikhar Arif, Fahmida Riaz, and Habib Jalib. She is also a trained classical dancer.

Saleem Hussain:
Saleem Hussain joined Liberty Books in the year 1980. Carrying a firm background in finance, his focus leaned towards import and distribution of books. In 2019, sensing the need to accommodate Pakistani Authors – who wanted a platform to publish their work- Liberty Books started their own publishing which mainly focused on fiction. So far, 10 titles have been successfully published, with a vision and aim to promote Pakistani authors through its strong retail and distribution arm.
