Mata e Hunar: Talking Poetry with Naseer Turabi by T2F


Join The Second Floor as they have Naseer Turabi -showcasing his unique diction- recites his pleasing poetry.

He describes how he initiated his literary journey and why he considered philology as an integral part of literature in Urdu, like any other language. He also recounts the junctures in the history of Urdu literature in his conversation.

About the poet:

Naseer Turabi is a renowned poet and writer of Pakistan. He did his masters in mass communication from Karachi University in 1968 but began to write poetry in 1962. His first collection of poetry, “Aks Faryadi” was published in 2000. He had been a communication officer in EFU Insurance. He has in his account a research compilation on the linguistic requirements of Urdu, Shairiyat. This book has been prescribed by the Board of Secondary Education Sindh in 2013. Naseer’s second poetry collection, “Laraib”, was published in 2016. He also mentored research students for various theses on Urdu poetry and literature, along with that he has conducted, hosted, and presided over seminars for the promotion of Urdu Language.

About Moderator:

Shakil Jafri is a writer, poet, producer, presenter, operations manager and social activist. He has started several cultural and literary organizations. He has delivered lectures and presentations on renowned writers, poets and artists at different seminars, literary circles and festivals in the country. Carrying over 30 years of experience in cultural, art, literature, social event management, he has also co-produced documentary films on social and urban issues.

Mr. Shakil Jafri holds a Masters in Economics and another Masters in Business Administration from Karachi University. Prior to joining T2F as Executive Director, Shakil headed Port Grand, Gloria Jean’s Coffee and the Awami Awaz Media Group as its COO.
