Meet Humera Patel - The Women Behind “Hummi's Collection”

Tell us who you are?

My name is Humera Patel and I’m currently working as a Owner & Fashion Designer for my own brand. I completed my diploma of Textile and Fashion designing from Karachi School of Textile and Fashion Designing (KSTFD). After completing my diploma I started my career as a designer with the launch of my brand in December 2011. I have participated in many exhibitions events and also looking forward to organize such events that will give a good exposure to my brand. I also like to learn new and different things.

Tell us about your brand? When did you realize that Fashion Designing is something that you have to do?

My brand name is “Hummi’s Collection by Humera Patel“. Well if I start telling you about my brand it will take too much time so in-short, it’s basically a fusion of eastern cultural trends with blends of western touch. So my brand is not based on one particular or specific purpose because I always willing to learn and do something new and different, whatever if it is in or out of my field.

Right now I’m working on women collection including casual, formal and semi-formal. You will find variety of colors and fusion in my brand. Main purpose is to give my best to my clients because you need to know your client and your brand first before doing anything. So, its all about style, art and fashion.

Well seriously its a sudden decision. Actually I completed my intermediate in Pre-Medical and i always want to be a doctor since my childhood but things changes with the passage of time and i came to know that I’m an art loving person and very found of it.

I always found art interesting, so i figured out what I’m and what I want actually; and as far as i believe that there is no one passion to do anything, its all you have to be passionate about whatever you do. My father knew this very well, so he motivated me to join this field and I found so many interesting things which made me to do and learn too many things.

So, I started my career as a fashion designer and now I have been working since the last 1.5 years. If I look at my self I think I made a very wise decision.

What was the first outfit that you designed?

My thesis project was the first outfit I have ever designed. It was an evening gown. I choose the color of the rainbow as my theme because I love nature and colors inspires me alot. I used the different colors of rainbow:) that was my first experience designing an outfit and I enjoyed it & loved how the outfit turned out.
