Meeting of Govt of Sindh and DHA/DCK officials on Recently Announced Malir Expressway Project

A meeting between Govt of Sindh and DHA/DCK officials chaired by Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali was held at DHA Head Office on recently announced Malir Expressway project by Govt of Sindh to be built on public-private partnership basis. The meeting discussed the efficacy and practicability of the strategic highway route in light of various pragmatic options/suggestions to further enhance the utility and effectiveness of the project.

Administrator stressed on finalizing the project after considering the futuristic expansion and needs viz-a-viz the capacity of the project. He gave professional insight of project’s design and long term benefits to make the project a resounding success. There was a unanimity of view in catering necessary changes in route for overall benefit of public and all stake holders.

The 38 Km Malir Motorway is a strategic Expressway that will serve as a southern alternate route for carrying traffic of port/industrial areas to main Highway. The four lane dual Expressway along Malir River starting from Hino Chowk to Super Highway (M-9) will terminate near Education City at Kathore Interchange on Super Highway. The Expressway will significantly reduce the travelling time between DHA and DHA City Karachi to 20 minutes duration.

The two teams held parleys in a co-ordial environment and agreed to cater for various suitable modifications/changes in the route in overall interest of public and the metropolis.
