South City Hospital

South City Hospital (Pvt.) Limited is a privately owned facility that covers a wide spectrum of specialties, with an aim to provide top grade medical care in a comfortable and luxurious environment.

In 2004, the owners of a private hospital in an upscale locality of Karachi, i.e. Clifton, announced its demolition to make way for a shopping centre and hotel complex. The destruction of a functional hospital created a vacuum that motivated a group of Pakistan’s top medical professionals to form a consortium and acquire an existing hospital in Clifton.

Construction for the new SCH facility started in March 2005 and phase 1 became operational in December 2006 whereas phase 2 was completed in March 2008. The facility covers an area of 3,250 square yards and has a total capacity of 124 beds. It houses a pharmacy, laboratory, fully equipped radiology unit, 6 state of the art operating theatres, labor and delivery suites and a cardiac unit.

  2. Tayab Masood says:

Dear Ms Saadia and your wonderful team,

It was a wonderful experience, as we got replaced knees of my wife (your patient Dr. Shehzadi Tayab stayed in Room # 312 Aug 13th to 21st). Hospital concept in Pakistan is unique with extraordinary cleanliness. Building is contemporary well decorated with pieces of art which is a pleasant surprise for Pakistanis. There are countless achievements and by converting some challenges into opportunity:

1- training is required for the staff and young doctors in ICU. Medical ethics says that there should be pin drop silence in ICU but my wife found that some doctors were making noise, busy in gossiping and flirting.

2- Either you are short staffed or your staff needs training, you have good people like Iffat and Amir which can used as benchmark or tool to measure quality of services.

    Here I’ll suggest:

    # Hire people on merit, particularly select those people who got a temperament and desire to serve patients and they should feel pleasure in helping patients.

    # A proper training should be given

    # Additional incentive/star/feather in cap should be associated with the salary of the staff/doctors getting good comments from patients, their seniors and juniors.

It will improve the level of service and people will prefer to listen patient’s calls instead of wasting work time in gossiping.(which can be observed through CCTV for evidences)

There should be enough equipment like walker, high chair, commode chair etc specially for TKR patients. Most of the time when you need it you have to wait a long time for it.

    Wish you all the best.
