Student Wins Gold Medal in the Nepal International Corporate Badminton Tournament 2018

DHA Clubs provide exciting sports, fitness and health facilities to its members which is instrumental in producing promising champions in various sports at national/international level. Defence Authority Sunset Club has the distinction of being the venue for producing two young badminton players who are currently Pakistan’s No.1 and No.2 Badminton Champions. Mahoor Shahzad, an aspiring IBA student and current badminton champion of Pakistan brought another laurel by winning a gold medal in the Nepal International Corporate Badminton Tournament 2018.

The international badminton tournament was held at Kathmandu, Nepal from 23-28 July 2018 in which players from India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan participated. Young Mahoor Shahzad gave a brilliant performance in the tournament by displaying her excellent speed, versatility, stamina and footwork to reach the final. In the final she performed magnificently to outplay her opponent Rashila Maharajan of Nepal with a convincing score of 21-15 and 21-10. She thus won Gold Medal and was declared champion of the tournament.

Acting Administrator DHA Brig Muhammad Shoaib Anwer (Retd) congratulated Mahoor for winning the coveted Badminton Tournament in Nepal and said that she is the shining star of Pakistan and pride of DHA as well as the country. He also gave the champion a cash award of Rs. 10,000/-.
