“The Petman Girls“, a Documentary Film by Taqi Shaheen is going to be screened at IVS Gallery, Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture on 23rd January 2013, Wednesday from 2.30 to 4.30 pm.

The documentary immerses itself in the lives of eight old Pakistani women who were painted in their prime more than forty years ago by the artist, Hal Bevan Petman (1894-1980).Through their interviews, documentary acts as an open exploration of the artist behind the paintings and what was it like to be painted during those times in Pakistan. The film also documents these elegant and charming old ladies as they look back at their paintings and talk about the times they were painted.
Taqi Shaheen is a filmmaker and visual artist based in Pakistan who creates audiovisual content for films and performances. His work crosses mediums and defies genre distinctions to fashion witty and curious observations of contemporary Pakistani culture and its urban landscapes. He has worked and collaborated with various artists, and has been a leading exponent in contemporary audiovisual art extensively touring his works. He received a graduate degree in Fine Arts from National College of Arts, Lahore.
