Typhoid Awareness Program held at DHA Suffa University


DHA Suffa University (DSU) is a fast growing University of the country. DSU organized an awareness programme on Typhoid. Typhoid fever is caused by Salmonella typhi bacteria. It remains a serious health threat in the developing world, especially for the children. Typhoid fever spreads through contaminated food and water or through close contact with someone who is already infected. Signs and symptoms usually include a high fever, headache, abdominal pain, and either constipation or diarrhea.

Additional Director Medical Lt Col Dr Muhammad Behzad Ghani, TI(M) from DSU, Dr Zahoor Baloch (World Health Organization-WHO), Dr Durre Naz (Expanded Program on Immunization-EPI) and Mr Suresh Rana gave valuable information regarding prevention of typhoid. They said that the measures can help prevent and control typhoid fever are safe drinking water, improved sanitation and adequate medical care. They emphasized on getting typhoid vaccination as a precautionary measure from this disease.

An interactive question and answer session was held at the end of the event. A large number of students and faculty members attended the session.
