Café and Bistro’s have taken K-town by storm, within a very short span of time there have been numerous cafes and bistro openings. The trend of eating out in the restaurants has shifted and moved in favor of the café and bistros.
Quiet surprisingly cafes and bistros have done a splendid business for two reason; firstly is the casual atmosphere and easy accessibility at the franchises near home. The restaurants in comparison require a certain level of preparation on part of the customer’s before visiting. But in reality the cafes and bistros have been serving mundane food- the quality of food in terms of flavor and cooking techniques was superb initially, but gradually a declining trend is witness over all.
Some blame the recession while most just say it is the standards that have fallen. Once the eatery picks up on the clientele and the local business, the focus shifts from the food quality and service to catering to as many as possible.
In the bubbling cauldron of culinary world, each eatery steps in with a great magnificence and pride on their food quality- the start is just the same for every eatery but only the best are able to retain their customer bases. People of K-town are adventurous and great big foodies when it comes to trying out the different cuisines on the offer- they are willing to try any new eatery on the block, provided it has great reviews.
Well at the beginning like stated before, nearly all the eateries have decent ratings but successful business is when the ratings go up with time and the food quality is praised as being consistently great. It takes more than just food to bring about this level of success for an eatery now given the high levels of competition.
Verde – Exclusive Bistro is one of the few Bistros to have made it to the top without compromising on the quality and quantity of food that is being served.
Address: F-79, Block 5, Clifton, Karachi.
Like the name suggests Verde is a Bistro and a café, but do not be misled by the assumption of typical monotonous café food because the Verde is the exact opposite- the food is fresh and of the highest quality. The best part is that the flavors incorporated in the dishes are authentic and true to the dishes origin.
Verde serves breakfast from 8 am in the morning- the pancakes are soft and light as air while the Spanish omelet is authentically Spanish in terms of flavor. The choices for the lunch are far more varied an exotic in comparison to the lunch; to begin with is the Watermelon and Haloumi Salad- no do not be alarmed or surprised because it may sound very un-earthy but in reality it is fresh and light just what a perfect starter should be like.
The steaks and wraps are good choices, but what should be really tried is the Honey Chili Prawn and Red Snapper with Avocado. The prices are a tad bit on the steeper side, but then again the quality of food makes up for it and is totally worth every time spent.
