Defence Authority College for Women (Phase VIII) celebrated women’s day to commemorate the collective efforts of the women worldwide. The event was incorporated with Oath Taking Ceremony of the newly elected members of Students’ Council 2013.
Ms Maleeha Faisal, Executive Director Overseas Office was the chief guest on the occasion. She congratulated the members of the Students’ Council and advised them to discharge their onerous responsibilities with courage, vision and fair play.
First year students of the College kept audience spellbound with their fiery speeches about women role in society. Hiba Rasheed got first prize for English whereas Shareea Javed was decleared first for the Urdu Speech.
A visual presentation on the ‘Role model of Muslim Women’ was given by Asst Prof Mrs Roohi Tayybai, which was followed by a simple and graceful Oath Taking Ceremony. The selected members of the Students’ Council took the oath. Haya Shah (B.A Final) took oath as the President and Faryal Qureshi (B.Com) as the vice President of the Council.
Earlier the Principal, Dr Farhat Agha said that the courses of studies and other activities at the college were designed to optimize development of intellectual, moral and physical potential of students. She said that all the educational activities were focused towards producing confident, self-reliant and forward looking individuals who could contribute positively for the society.
The auditorium reverberated with applauses as the council members moved with lighted torches symbolizing women as brave, powerful and strengthened. The chief guest awarded badges to the newly elected Council members.
