World Rabies Day Campaign “Rabies Free Karachi” is Organized

World Rabies Day is held on 28th September every year. Rabies is 99.9% fatal but at the same time it is 100% preventable. Physicians and researchers from Indus Hospital started working on RFK (Rabies Free Karachi) project and successfully completed the pilot project in Ibrahim Hyderi and adjoining areas. Indus Hospital in collaboration with DHA has launched a similar one month programme in Phase-VI to eliminate this deadly disease. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Seema Zia, Member Provincial Assembly, Sindh.

During the event, the project team spread awareness of rabies, its prevention and treatment. It was followed by an address of the core and field team members who spoke about their experiences; a dog-catching simulation was administered and the surgical container was opened for inspection, where dogs are surgically sterilized.

The event was attended by a large number of residents and DHA Medical team.
